ST Albans City manager Steve Castle has confirmed that midfield duo Paul Bruce and Jonathan Hunt are set to remain with the club next term.

The City boss has been working hard to ensure the experienced pair will lead the challenge for a top-five spot in the Blue Square South next season. Bruce made 30 league starts for City last term, scoring seven goals, and former Birmingham City, Derby County and Sheffield United star Hunt featured in nine league games after joining.

Castle views the pair as vital to his plans. He said: "To have those two fit and raring to go is great. People are going to be hopefully very pleasantly surprised with how fit Jonathan Hunt is. The experience that these lads can bring is great for the younger lads. Contrary to reports, Paul Bruce has not signed for Thurrock. Paul and Jonathan are both right up for it and on call.
