WHEATHAMPSTEAD'S run of draws continued with a 3-3 tie at Tring Athletic.

The Wanderers started slowly, conceding a scrappy goal early on and were lucky not to fall further behind when Tring were awarded a disputed penalty for handball but failed to convert.

Wheathampstead started the second half brightly with the introduction of Jason Pawlaczek and soon after the restart Rob Clark floated in a free kick which Angus Raeside applied the faintest of touches to for the equaliser.

The comeback continued with a classy second goal, Bailey whipping in a pinpoint cross which Clark smashed in at the far post.

Clark turned provider for Wanderers' third when he worked the ball into the box and clipped it across the goalmouth for winger Josh Mawhinney to volley home from six yards at the far post.

Wheathampstead were sitting pretty at this stage with Adem Berkay outstanding at full-back but a rare lack of composure in defence allowed Athletic to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

Worse was to follow when, with five minutes on the clock, Tring crowded the Wanderers area and an uncertain Raeside sliced an attempted clearance into his own net.

This was the new Wheathampstead team's best performance of the season but that first win still proves elusive.
