St Albans Wanderers 0 London Colney 'A' 2

DESPITE being drawn against opposition from a higher division, Wanderers put up a resolute defence and were only defeated by goals late in each half.

The home side were forced to play with stand-in keeper Carl Fadhel and so contrived to keep the London Colney forwards out of firing range. This tactic proved successful until added time in the first half, when Connell slid in to force home a left wing cross.

Unfortunately, the Colney forward also connected with the Wanderers' keeper, who was unable to return for the second-half and had to be replaced by player-manager Steve Owen, who continued to keep out the frequent shots from the visitors.

Ultimately, Owen was beaten by a solo run by Boodoo, who latched onto an incisive through ball and fired in to kill off the tie.

On Saturday, Wanderers travel to play Warriors at Westminster Lodge.
