ST PETER'S gained revenge for their 2-0 defeat to Bushey Rangers a fortnight ago by wining the return fixture 2-1.

The league leaders left Lemsford two weeks ago with a somewhat fortunate three points but the Saints made amends by stifling their opponents and overcoming the blustery conditions and poor playing surface to secure the three points.

Manager Dave Whitehead was without several first choice players and gave goalkeeper Winston Seidu his debut.

Facing the strong wind the Saints kept the home side at bay with some determined defending and, when Bushey did break through, they found Seidu in excellent form pulling off one particular save that looked destined for the corner of the net.

With the scores tied at the break the Saints fancied their chances in the second half with the conditions in their favour.

Continuing to play the better football, the Saints eventually broke the deadlock. The ball was worked out to Jack Greaney on the right side of the box who picked his spot and drilled the ball past the goalkeeper.

Both 'keepers pulled off saves to deny the opposition before Bushey equalised. Seidu did well to keep out a close range effort but couldn't hold onto the ball allowing Bushey to scramble the ball over the line. The Saints recovered though and grabbed the winner their efforts deserved.

A right wing corner caused the Bushey defence all sorts of problems and Danny Blyth was on hand to apply the finish and seal the win.

AFC Hatfield are the opposition this weekend for the Saints with kick off 2.30pm at Birchwood Playing Fields, Hatfield.

St Peter's: Seidu; T Gauthier, Wiltshire, M Hatchett; Greaney, Blyth, M Gauthier, Stuart-Neal, Mardle; J Eames, Lee (Barnes). Sub not used: Laffoley.
