ST Peter's lost at home for the first time since early November as Chipperfield Corinithians took the points away from Lemsford on Saturday in the Herts Senior County League Division One.
The fixture was in doubt on the day but the good firm playing surface and strong drying wind ensured all was fine for a 3pm kick off.
During the contest, snow flurries and sleet, rain and wind hindered the players on both sides. The conditions made for a poor spectacle and mistakes would ultimately decide the contest with scoring opportunities at a premium.
The visitors took the lead following a slip up by David Stevens on the attack and a swift counter move was well finished at the far post. Ben Picton beat young goalkeeper Chris Caruana with a crisp finish for 1-0.
The decisive moment in the contest came when the Saints were reduced to 10 men. Talisman Richard Ellis was sent off for retaliating following a blow to the face.
Saints continued to battle on but rarely threatened to score and were soon 2-0 down. Chris Gillard capitalised on a defensive error to tuck home a gift of a goal.
Time was running out when the Saints finally found the net. A scramble in the visitors' defence allowed Sean Workman to fire home his 12th goal of the season.
On Saturday, Saints host North Mymms at Lemsford with a 3pm kick off.
