GRAHAM Golds' perfect 25-yard lob handed Harpenden Rovers all three points in their clash with third-placed Debden Sports.

Rovers were looking to banish memories of their 9-0 thrashing earlier in the season but they gifted Debden a goal with some horrendous defending.

Rovers then piled on the pressure and the equaliser came from Andy Palmer.

The second half saw Rovers fly out of the blocks and they took a deserved lead when striker David Bounds scored from a well-worked set piece. Debden chased the game hard but this allowed Rovers to hit them on the break, although they were unable to find the goal to make the game safe.

With ten minutes remaining, Rovers were dealt a massive blow when 'keeper Paul Goodwin came and caught a cross only for the Debden striker to knock him over, which the official adjudged to be fair, and Debden had their equaliser.

However the last word went to Golds whose sublime lob was worthy of winning any game.

Harpenden Rovers: Goodwin, Palmer, Ellis, M.Smith, Foster, Williams, Chugg (Peacock 85), Golds, Bounds, Devoti (E.Smith 71), Cannons (Fox 85). Unused subs: Pegram.
