ST Albans Wanderers and Sandridge Rovers A played out a dramatic clash in the North and Mid Herts Division One Mid on Saturday.

Alan Long claimed the match ball with a well taken hat trick for Wanderers and Stephen Hughes excelled with a last-minute penalty save.

Long netted first but the lead lasted just three minutes, with Sandridge hitting back to level.

Rampant Sandridge roared 3-1 ahead, however, Long headed home his second.

Wanderers finally claimed the important goal when Long followed up a saved penalty to nod the ball over the prone 'keeper.

The drama did not end there because Sandridge had a late penalty saved and the loose ball was cleared to safety by Wanderers to maintain parity.
