Colney Heath Ladies showed no mercy to a depleted AFC Sudbury as they stormed to an 11-1 win.

The hosts remain rooted to the bottom of the Eastern Region Women’s League Premier Division while the Magpies stay ninth after a sixth win of the season.

Colney had themselves only travelled with 12 fit players but they were 4-0 up by half-time in a ruthless display.

Rianne Townsend-Brown and Charlene Moreton shared the goals between them and both would complete their hat-tricks after the break.

Townsend Brown actually finished with five, the pick of them a 25-yard left-foot volley while Sheree Oliver, Olivia Mari and Christina Freestone also chipped in with one each.

Manager Paul Gleeson said: “Credit to the ladies for a five-star performance but huge respect to Sudbury who kept going for the full 90 minutes.

“We have been in that situation in the past and it can demoralise a team.”

Colney go to Haringey Borough on Sunday in a 2pm kick-off.
