PARK Street Village boss Ryan Thompson admitted the best team on the day won after watching his side lose 1-0 to league leaders London Lions.
A Chris Day own goal gave the Lions the victory and Thompson believed it was a fair result.
"It was a 1-0 battering - they absolutely battered us," Thompson told the Herts Advertiser. "We were confident and we had a good chat in the dressing room before the game but after five minutes we couldn't get to grips with them."
The only goal of the game came in the first half when a cross came in at chest height and Day headed the ball past goalkeeper Tony Kerby and into his own net.
Andy Murphy had a great chance to earn a share of the spoils for PSV, but with the ball on the line a Lions defender stuck out a boot to deny the striker.
"There were lots of angry words said in the changing rooms at half time and in the first five or ten minutes of the second half I thought we were going to get back into the game," said Thompson.
"I can't fault our lads, they battled so hard. Tony Kerby had a cracking game along with the defence and without them it could have been a lot worse," continued the Village manager.
"The effort was there and so was the heart and desire, we just weren't good enough on the day. Possession was probably 70-30 in their favour maybe more. They weren't hungrier than us, they were just better than us," said Thompson.
