Heath boss felt aggrieved at officials’ decisions
COLNEY Heath boss Scott Lacey was angry with the way his side shipped goals in their 4-1 defeat at Stotfold on Tuesday night.
The Magpies were guilty of handing their opponents their first three goals all from slack marking on set plays and Lacey says that kind of sloppy play will not be tolerated.
“We gave them something to fight for,” Lacey told the Herts Advertiser afterwards.
“We’ve conceded three set plays, that’s embarrassing at this level with the players we’ve got. Our players have got to have a look at themselves and stand up and be counted. It’s not good enough and it won’t be tolerated.
“The fourth goal, me and Wes (Awad, Lacey’s fellow boss) will take responsibility for, because we’ve gone more or less two at the back to try and get something because we knew results else where were going our way.”
Lacey and Awad felt aggrieved that all the major decisions during the game went against their side and Lacey says all they ask from the officials is that they are treated fairly.
“On this 18 game run we’ve been on, which is now two losses and 16 wins, both the games we’ve lost we’ve dominated,” explained Lacey.
“We’ve conceded from stupid set plays. At half time when we were 2-1 down I was still confident, we came out had a great five minutes and then there was the massive turning point, the penalty decision. Everyone in the ground thought it was a penalty but he’s decided to give it (a free kick) right on the line.
“Maybe we’ve got to look at the way we deal with officials, maybe we take it too seriously because the three officials tonight didn’t take it seriously if I’m honest.
“I don’t want to talk about the officials really because the club’s getting a terrible reputation for it. We just want to be treated fairly and I must admit over the last two games I don’t think we have been.”
