TINASHE Jaravaza and Kevin Mendil scored the goals as St Peter's got back to winning ways against local rivals North Mymms at Lemsford on Saturday.

Managers Andy Goodchild and Mitch Morris were forced into a number of changes to their line up. Defenders Tony Gauthier, Matt Gauthier and David Winnie were all out, with Scott Ferguson and Anthony Farron covering. Full backs Dean Edghill and Martin Canaway returned to action after several weeks on the sidelines. Midfielders Richard Ellis, Craig Chapman and Craig Staughton were unavailable, with David Stevens, Dan Cockerton and young Frenchman Mendil making up the midfield three. Mark Savory and Sean Workman led the attack alongside Jaravaza who was making a rare appearance.

The soft, slippery pitch soon began to cut up in the atrocious conditions and players found it difficult to keep their feet.

Jaravaza broke the deadlock when he intercepted a bad back pass and thundered the ball home on 25 minutes.

Both sides missed a number of chances before Saints doubled their lead in the second half. A free kick from Dan Cockerton was met with a glancing header from young Mendil for his first goal for the club.

The Saints became sloppy in the final 10 minutes of the match and were fortunate that the visitors failed to grasp the opportunity to get back into the contest.

Saints have five fixtures remaining with the next four all away from home. They visit Lemsford at Welwyn Village for a 3pm kick off on Saturday.
