PARK Street Village needed extra time to defeat Cuffley at Toulmin Drive on Saturday.

Manager Ryan Thompson was anticipating a tough clash against a side resembling the strong Whitewebbs outfit from last season.

PSV started well and took the lead when striker Matty Newman picked up the ball on the left and crossed for Andy Murphy to nod the ball home at the back post.

With the inspirational Gary Warn enjoying a fine run of form in midfield, PSV continued to press and should have added further goals. Instead they were caught napping at the back with just 20 seconds of time remaining and a trip in the box resulted in a blatant penalty. Cuffley converted their spot kick for 1-1 to send the match into extra time.

PSV had to battle on having used the only two subs they had and they recovered well in the extra period. Murphy was put through to thump home his second of the game and then Dave Ross found time and space amongst chaos to lob home a speculative effort to seal the 3-1 victory.

Aubrey Cup holders PSV now go away to Met Police Bushey in the next round. On Saturday they are back in league action at Evergreen.

Thompson was delighted with his side for their display on Saturday. He said: "Ricky Petts came into defence again and was awesome. We could have scored a couple more before the end. Gary Warn has been immense for us recently and he beat about four players but couldn't finish. Lee Shackle had a chance. I was really pleased with the performance apart from the last bit of normal time when the game should have been over but it wasn't and we got sloppy and conceded a silly goal.
