HARPENDEN Town Reserves entertained Winslow Reserves who have been in good form of late.
On a very sticky pitch Town changed their formation to play to the conditions however they were dealt a blow when speed merchant Mike Davies pulled up in the warm up. However Town started brightly with the pace of winger Plumb troubling the left back on every occasion, but Plumb could not deliver with his usual quality. The first chance was created down the right hand side though and a great whipped in ball by Stuart Love left Beazley with a simple tap-in from three yards, but Beazley uncharacteristically blasted it over.
Town were dominating the game, with Man of the Match Connor Maher and skipper Ollie Poole in complete control of the midfield, and Chugg and Ross commanding the defence.
However Town did not create any further chances in the first half.
The second half saw Town immediately look more menacing and Chris Gregory had a good chance but only managed to shoot directly at the keeper.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 58th minute, when Gregory picked out a great run of Maher, who flicked it on to Love who swivelled and blasted in the top corner to notch up his tenth of the season.
With Town pushing for a second, the pace and skill of Warren, EJ and Frost were introduced in to the game and it was Frost who scored the second after beating two men then blasting an unstoppable shot from 25 yards in to the top corner and seal the three points for Town.
Manager Jim Nicholls was delighted with the three points and the way the players responded to only our second league defeat on the season last week.
Town: McClean, Airey, Hamer, Chugg, Ross, Poole (Frost 66), Maher, Plumb (EJ 74), Beazley (Warren 66) Gregory, Love.
