A wonder goal from Ben Warren was the cherry on top of the cake as Skew Bridge beat NBOB 4-2 in the Herts Advertiser Sunday League Premier Division.
Warren had an eventful game, scoring twice and missing a penalty as the clash between the league’s top two teams lived up to its reputation.
Skew opened the scoring through Lee Close but NBOB fought back with goals from Paul Doonan and Russ Gallagher to take the lead.
Warren’s miss for 12 yards was soon forgotten as he hit a contender for goal of the season from a long way out.
And further strikes from Warren and Close moved Skew seven points clear at the top.
Despite missing several key players, New Jacks were still able to overcome Nascot Arms 7-2. Nathan Jackson and Ollie Galea both scored two with Mickey Shuttlewood, Tom, Ward and Tom Shurrock also on target. Jamie Beaumont and Dean Collins replied for Nascot.
Queens Head recovered from last week’s shock defeat to overcome Phoenix 5-2. Tom Li, George Elliott, Phil Turner, Scott Bailey and Khalid Ismail netted for Queens.
Blacksmiths Arms continued their improved form with a convincing 4-0 win over Compasses North in the Herts Intermediate Cup. Dean Skipsey opened the scoring followed by a Mitch Ryder strike. A Jamie Sharp double secured the win.
Skew Bridge Reserves came from a goal down to Brookmans Park to win 6-1. Will Bates got his fourth hat-trick of the year and was helped by Steve Jones, Steve Harris and James Hardy. Callum Baylis had scored for Park who lost centre-half Tom Wilsher to a nasty facial injury.
A thrilling game between Six Bells and AFC Bovingdon eventually ended 8-6 in Bells favour after extra time. Yasin Boodhoo hit a hat-trick and Leo Gibbon and Andy Hanak both scored twice.
In the Herts Junior Cup St Albans Irish fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Albury Saints after extra time. Lee Greenwood scored their lone goal.

In Division Two a Michael Langton goal was all Phoenix Res had to show for in a 2-1 defeat to Chequers Inn. Andrew Pollock and Davan Desai scored for Chequers.
TNF fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with BWSC. Two goals from Steve Orchard and a goal from Joe Pleece saw them come away with a point. Robert Bennett, Mark Starnes and Josh Humpage scored for BWSC.
Royston Rangers put in their performance of the season so far beating Athletico Quat 4-1 in Division Three. Captain Jamie Turner scored his first hat-trick for the club, with Tom Perry was also on the score-sheet. Jordan Lawrence scored for Quat.
New Greens bounced back from a bad run with an impressive 7-1 victory over Blackboy. Jay Blundell, George Irving and Charlie Betts all got two apiece with a single from Dean Messias. Ian Adele scored for Blackboy.
Harpenden Rovers Blue stayed top with a 2-0 defeat of Oaks. Tom Simmonds got both goals.
And in Division Four Brookmans Park ‘A’ beat Harpenden Colts OB 3-2. Ben McGregor, Dom Woolard and Will Cousins gave Park the lead before James and Luke Marsh pulled two back.
