HARVESTERS Ladies caused a cup upset as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the Bed & Herts League Cup.

Harvesters, who ply their trade in Division Three of the Bed & Herts League, edged out Division One Hitchin 2-1 as they continued their excellent season.

Going into the game on the back of a 100 per cent league record, Harvesters gave as good as they got with both teams trying to play on the front foot.

With Bedi, Rampley and Humbertsone working hard the opening goal materialised in the 27th minute when Monahan pounced to score and give Harvesters a half-time lead.

After the restart Harvesters picked up where they left off and continued to create chances.

The all-important second goal arrived in the 85th minute when Bedi was on hand to convert and despite Hitchin reducing the deficit late on Harvesters held on to progress.

Thakrar was the Manager’s Player of the Match with Matthews winning the supporters’ vote for a solid performance.

Harvesters are the only Division Three team left in the competition with Division One providing the three other teams. Harvesters will now meet Dunstable Ladies YFC in the semi-finals with the tie set for mid-March.

Harvesters Ladies: Russell, Low, Chandler, Croucher, Matthews, Rampley, Lawrence, Monahan, Thurlow, Humberstone, Thakrar, Williamson, Bedi, Cavaree, Kelly.
