London Colney moved into the next round of the Challenge Trophy after a 2-0 win at home to Division One side Southall.
Goals from Spencer Clarke-Mardel and Tom Smith sealed Colney’s passage where they will play either Berkhampstead or Hamwell Town.
The Blueboys opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Matt Newman’s low shot was parried into the path of Spencer Clarke-Mardel who made no mistake from two yards.
Southall striker Ayoub Jbilou then had his side’s best chance of the half, blazing over the bar after going clean through on the Colney goal.
The home side increased their advantage not long after when Jimmy Hartley’s superb free kick was met by Tom Smith who powered the ball past James Cox in the Southall goal.
The Blueboys nearly made it three when another Hartley set-piece came back out to Ben Hammond whose low shot struck the post before being cleared for a corner.
Colney were then denied by the woodwork again after Southall defender Jamil Syilla sliced the resulting corner against his own post before the danger was eventually cleared.
The home side then saw another chance go begging after Hartley sent a header over the bar with the goal gaping following good work from Russell Gallagher down the left wing.
Colney came under pressure in the second period as Southall pushed for a goal, but the defence stood firm to seal the team’s progress.
