St Albans City v Hampton & Richmond Borough
Monday, August 31 - 3pm KO
Where: Clarence Park
Who: Hampton & Richmond Borough narrowly missed out on promotion to the Blue Square Premier last season losing 3-2 to Hayes & Yeading in the Playoff final. Managed by former West Ham midfielder Alan Devonshire, the Beavers are expected to again push for honours this season.
Devonshire lost winger Shaun McAuley to Eastleigh during the summer but has kept the majority of last season's squad at the Beveree including last season's top scorer Lawrence Yaku.
The Beavers boss has added former Basingstoke man David Tarpey and ex-Sutton striker Craig Dundas to his striking options.
Season so far: The Beavers season got off to a disastrous start with back-to-back defeats. A 1-0 home defeat to Basingstoke was followed by a 3-1 loss on the road at Newport County. Dundas and Yaku were on target as Hampton recorded their first win of the season, a 2-1 win over Bromley, but Hampton's poor home form continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Braintree. Yaku notched his second goal of the season as Hampton beat Bath City 3-1 last time out.]
Last season: 10-man City were held to a 2-2 draw when the teams met in the corresponding fixture last year. The Boxing Day clash was a feisty affair with Gary Cohen receiving his marching orders during the first half. Hakim opened the scoring for City but Yaku equalised for the visitors. An Stuart Lake own goal looked like giving City all three points but Ian Hodges grabbed a second equaliser 12 minutes from time.
Players: Adam Everitt sits out the last game of his three match ban while Hampton are without Dean Wells who is suspended following his red card during the Beavers defeat at Newport.
