Darren O’Brien scored his 100th goal for Facelad as they finally triumphed over The Wrestlers in extra-time after an epic 7-6 Herts Ad Intermediate Cup tie.

The two sides were locked at 3-3 when they were both reduced to 10 men and had added a further goal each by the end of 90 minutes.

The lead swung back and forth in the extra period and it wasn’t until Jerry Clynes scored the last two that Facelad snatched victory.

Joe Smith (two), Dan Hedges, Lee Brinkley, Tom Law and Barry Draper scored for The Wrestlers.

Cup holders Skew Bridge eased through 7-1 against Marina Vale, Mark Hitchcock and Michael Davis both scoring twice.

Goals by Mark Freestone, Daryl Archer and Stephen May gave Bradmore Rovers a 3-1 win over Hedgehog in the Herts Intermediate Cup while Dexter Simpson got a brace for Oaks in their 5-2 Herts Junior Cup victory over Blacksmiths Arms Res.

A hat-trick from Adam Wallace, including two penalties, helped NBOB overcome a stubborn Blackberry Jacks 4-2 in the Herts Ad Knockout Cup and extra-time was needed in the Herts Ad Challenge Cup to separate Queens Head and Blacksmiths, Queens eventually winning 5-3.

Jack Woods and James Russell both scored two for Queens, Sam Doolan getting the other, while Joe O’Brien, Aidan Golds and Jonny Rowland replied for Blacksmiths.

In the Premier Division, Phoenix slipped to a 3-1 loss against Town Inn. Jack Gage getting their goal, while in Division One Nicholas Breakspear Res came out on top 4-2 against Six Bells.

Max Evans, Anthony Brown and Adriano Gill scored for NBOB and Aaron Clarke and Ryan Houghton for Bells.

Two goals and a sparkling display by Bradley Last wasn’t enough for Welwyn Warriors as they lost 7-2 to Colney Heath Sunday in Division Two.

Snug Bar picked up their third consecutive win, defeating Phoenix Res 7-0. Bruce Helsey and Jack Dixon scored two each.

And there was a fourth successive win for St Albans Irish as goals from Jordan Cocomazzi and Matt Gee helped them beat Stonewood Utd 2-0.

Division Three

Tansley continued their fine start to the season with a hard-earned 2-0 win over Veer Dhara, debutant John Beschizza and Steve Weldon getting the goals.

Rob Bennett hit a hat-trick in BWSC’s 7-3 win over TNF and there was a treble for David Droznika as AFC Mymms beat Wheathampstead ‘89 5-2.

Two goals in the last 10 minutes saw New Greens to a 3-1 win over Marshalswick Rovers, for whom Luke Tremlett scored.

St Albans Warriors produced their best performance of the season to win 4-2 against Harpenden Colts OB in Division Four. Liam Daley bagged two and chipped assisted on the others, both scored by Jai Wantt.

Blackboy drew 2-2 against Jolly Sailor while Brookmans Park A are still looking for their first points of the season after losing 5-1 to Hatfield Mosquito.

League leaders CHL had James Coad to thank as they won 1-0 against Dagmar 1984.

And top goalscorers of the day were Hatfield Seniors, who smashed 16 past Royston Rangers Res.

Kieren Pendrell-Smith got five, George Burton four and Aaron Puleston three. Daniel Davis added two more while James Brookes and Shane Donoghue got the others. Sid Jordan got Royston’s solitary reply.
