FA Cup: Magpies set up Bowers and Pitsea tie

Colney Heath picked up their first win of the season on Saturday to book their place in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.
The Magpies fell behind to a 20th minute goal from Southend Manor but hit back with strikes from Matt Standen and Aaron Clarke to set up a meeting with Bowers and Pitsea in the next round.
Speaking after the game, manager Wes Awad said: “It was a good result and a very good performance. The game should have been dead and buried by half time but we were punished by individual mistakes.
“To go behind and have to chase the game; we showed character to come back.
“It should take some pressure of the boys. We’re lacking confidence because every mistake we’ve made has been punished.”
Heath have had a tough start to the season, losing their opening three league games, including Tuesday’s night’s 2-0 loss at home to Harefield United, and exiting the Charity Shield in the first round.
If they can learn the lessons from those games, though, then Awad sees a swift turnaround.
“Saturday’s game can be a foundation for the season, but it means nothing if we don’t get on a run and build confidence.
“You make your own luck in football. We need to keep creating chances and be clinical in the final third. The lads are all brave and want the ball; I don’t want that to change.”
