RICHARD Ellis struck the only goal of the game as St Peter's beat Sarratt at Lemsford to record their first win of the season on Saturday.

The Saints were weakened again due to unavailability and struggled to field a side, though the players knuckled down and quickly got on top.

Ellis timed his run well to finish for the only goal of the match and just the third strike of the season for St Peter's.

Goalkeeper Colin Pigott had a quiet afternoon for Saints as their reshuffled side battled well.

Manager Mitch Morris, himself pressed into first half action, praised trips for their commitment and strength of character.

On Wednesday, August 27 St Peter's were defeated 4-0 at home by Division One newcomers Kimpton Rovers. The Saints have plenty to ponder, feeling let down by the attitude of some players.

This Saturday, Saints host Letchworth Garden City with a 3pm kick off at Lemsford in Division One.
