STRIKERS Matt Day and Matt Newman fired Park Street Village to a good away victory at Evergreen on Saturday.

After a sloppy first half, PSV switched tactics in the second half and produced a performance closer to their winning brand of football of the last few seasons. Boss Ryan Thompson said: "The first half was a bit poor. The tempo was really slow. We changed it second half and we were a bit more direct. We were in their faces and when we play like that it makes it difficult for the opposition."

PSV took the lead in the first half with a scorching goal from Day after the ball was played back by midfielder Gary Warn.

Evergreen equalised when PSV were caught messing around at the back and the ball was cracked home emphatically.

In the second half, Day notched his second goal with a flick header and Newman then sped through to beat the centre back and finish with aplomb for 3-1.

PSV go away to Sandridge Rovers on Saturday and Thompson is looking for his side to build up a bit of momentum. He said: "It is a local derby and they are going well. It is an interesting game and if we can go over there and get a point we will be happy."

Defender Ricky Petts and goalkeeper Tony Kerby continued their excellent form of recent matches and Thompson is hoping both will prove difficult for Sandridge to negotiate on Saturday. He said: "Tony Kerby has been awesome, claiming crosses and punching. He really has looked the part. Ricky Petts has got the shirt at centre back now, it is his shirt and he has been superb.
