MOST hat trick heroes would be delighted with their performance but for Ben Martin he couldn't have been more disappointed.

Centre-half Martin scored three as he pulled his side back into the game from 3-0 down but the visitors regrouped to score twice and take the all the points from Clarence Park.

"It's obviously nice for me," said Martin "but I'm still very disappointed we lost. I don't think there's many times when someone scores a hat trick and they still lose. "

The City captain feels that the team's lack of match action may have contributed to their downfall. "We haven't had a game for a long time and I think that's maybe why we were lacklustre all over the pitch today."

This was Martin's first senior hat trick, but the big defender says his main concern is keeping the ball out of his own net.

"I've been asked when's the last time you scored a hat trick? I said it's probably when I was eight or nine. It's very disappointing to concede five that's more my concern than scoring four. I keep coming back to it; I'm a centre half and we can't afford to concede five goals.
