WINGER Rod Hicks has been released by St Albans City manager Steve Castle. The former Peterborough United youngster joined City in the summer.

Injuries curtailed his chances in the early weeks of the campaign and after starting both matches against Harlow Town in the FA Cup, Hicks was dropped to the bench for the trip to Basingstoke Town last weekend.

Hassan Sulaiman is expected to be fit to return to action for Saints when they host Bognor Regis Town on Saturday, October 18. Midfielder James Quilter could miss the clash with the ankle injury which forced him off in the first half at Basingstoke.

Saints are without a fixture on Saturday due to their FA Cup exit and instead have plenty of time to prepare for the vital league clash with Bognor Regis Town. Having lost their last home league fixture to struggling Thurrock, City will be determined not to make the same mistake again. They must also look for the predatory instinct in front of goal that has been missing all too often.

Castle is expecting a tougher challenge from Bognor Regis Town than their lowly Blue Square South position would indicate. He said: "Bognor have been recruiting as the weeks go by and they are recruiting good players. I know that because they are players that I have shown interest in and they have already been tied up by Bognor. I think there is a little bit more money there now.
