London Colney continued their impressive run of form with a 4-2 victory over relegation threatened Hatfield Town on Tuesday night.
Two goals from Matt Newman and one apiece from Martin Collins and Jimmy Hartley saw the home side come from behind to take the points.
The Blueboys started the brighter with both Newman and Spencer Clarke-Mardel going close.
It was the away side who took the lead though, fullback Chris Webb crossing low for Tom Oram to sweep the ball past Charlie May in the Colney goal.
It was a short-lived advantage though as Martin Collins and Russell Gallagher combined well down the left before Gallagher laid the ball back for Collins who drilled it home.
The home side then took the lead just two minutes into the second half, as Collins created space for Newman who hammered the ball low past Scott Montgomery.
Colney then extended their advantage just a few minutes later as Newman was sent racing clear before rounding Montgomery and stroking the ball into the empty net.
The Blueboys’ final goal came late on as Jimmy Hartley connected with a Tom Smith free-kick to fire home and seal the points.
There was still time for Hatfield to grab a consolation second though, in what was probably the highlight of the night.
A sliding challenge from Clarke-Mardel 30 yards from the goal resulted in the ball looping up into the air over the helpless Charlie May and into the net for a freak own goal.
The win lifts Colney up one place to sixth in the SSML Premier Division, with a trip to Hertford next up on Saturday.
