LONDON Colney picked up their third league win of the season with a 2-1 away success against Kingsbury London Tigers on Saturday.

The Blueboys hosted the match at Cotlandswick as the home side were holding a large function at their ground.

Early in the game, Colney midfielder Greg Shaw tried a long-range shot which took a high bounce but Kingsbury goalkeeper Siki Kambila recovered well to save.

Colney were denied a chance to fire in the opening goal when it was ruled that Tinashe Jaravaza had illegally challenged Kambila in the box.

In the 33rd minute, the Blueboys finally got the break they needed when defender Mark Paradise launched a long ball forward and Cain Davey won possession in the box, sidestepping Kambila before stroking the ball home.

Kambila saved a Greg Shaw free kick and at the other end Colney goalkeeper Gary Statham showed his reflexes to thwart Kye Davies.

Terence Cariba forced Statham to make another superb stop and Colney capitalised on 61 minutes. Substitute Dave Townsend fed Danny Fitzgerald who raced into the box and curled a sensational shot into the top corner after speeding away from his marker.

Statham denied Cariba and Tarik Ellekhlifi before the London Tigers pulled a goal back on 87 minutes. Renars Zarchenko burst into the box and drove the ball home, giving Statham no chance.

The impressive Statham was not to be beaten again and made sure of the three points with a spectacular one-handed save. Colney should then have added a third but Townsend was denied by Kambila after good approach work from Fitzgerald.

London Colney: Statham, Benning, McCafferty, Murphy, Paradise, Shaw, Corran, Mitchell (Townsend), Jaravaza (Haynes), Davey (Crowe), Fitzgerald. Unused Subs: White, Butcher.

London Colney Reserves went away to Sawbridgeworth Town Reserves in Reserve Division One on Saturday.

The Blueboys were trailing 3-1 but battled back supremely to take the win 4-3. Darren O'Toole scored twice, with his second proving the decisive winner. Aaron Ames set up the first for O'Toole with a superb solo run. Alistair Hill and super-sub David Othman grabbed the other goals for Colney. Ricky Farmer set up two goals.

London Colney: McHale, Azzopardi, Henshall, Swendel, Seeby, Seymour, Dumpleton, O'Toole, Ames, Farmer, Hill (Othman).

LONDON Colney put in a battling display away to Leverstock Green on Tuesday in the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

Leverstock Green took the lead after three minutes when former Colney man Frankie Jowle put over a dangerous corner and Stuart Bailey headed home.

The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when Bailey won the ball and crossed for Allan Arthur to find the net.

The Blueboys battled back and poured forward, with Shaun Murphy heading just wide and Greg Shaw flashing a volley inches the wrong side of the same upright.

Former Blueboy Jamie Parsons had a long-range shot punched over by Colney goalkeeper Gary Statham and ex-Harpenden Town striker Matt Wardle saw his close-range effort strike the post.

In the 66th minute, the hard-working Colney defence of Murphy, Mark Paradise, Lee Benning and Dave Townsend was finally breached again. Jowle crossed and Dave Sears volleyed the ball home for 3-0.

The Blueboys continued to show resilience and Cain Davey supplied Sam Mitchell, who cracked a low shot into the net from 30 yards for a fine consolation strike.

On Saturday, London Colney host Biggleswade Town with a 3pm kick off at Cotlandswick.

London Colney: Statham, Benning, Townsend, Murphy, Paradise, Shaw, Corran, Jaravaza (White), Butcher (Mitchell), Davey, Fitzgerald. Unused subs: Crowe, Caines, Haynes.
