COLNEY Heath continued their stunning form in the Premier Division with a three-goal blitz at Chalfont St Peter in tough conditions on Tuesday.

Joint boss Scott Lacey was happy the match went ahead and praised the referee. He said: "We wanted to play the game. Chalfont didn't but the referee said we would start. He was quite a good referee. Obviously the result went with us but we would have had no complaints about playing it win, lose or draw. Conditions were awful, the rain really came down but the pitch was in good condition."

With seven first-team regulars out, including Mark Blackburne, Ant Muthusamy, Dean Shuttleworth and Jake Parratt and with striker Phil Jackman only fit enough for the bench, the squad assembled by managers Lacey and Wesley Awad was tested.

Midfield star Greg Deacon opened the scoring with a cracking goal and Lacey praised his talisman. He said: "Greg has been probably our best player in the last six games. He has always been known as a play maker but he has added a little bit of bite into his game. He really deserved the goal for the effort he has put in. We broke on the right and the ball was headed out to Greg who ran onto it and fired a half volley into the bottom corner of the goal."

The Magpies had to dig in to maintain their lead and did not shirk the challenge, going in 1-0 up at the break. In the second half, they got their reward when recent signing Carl Ashton lobbed home a sensational second from the right flank and Richard Howard continued his scoring spree when he cut in from the left and cracked home a low shot. Lacey said: "It was a bit of a wonder goal from Carl and he looks like David Beckham as well. Young Richie Howard then picked the ball up on the left and cut inside and hit a low shot which skidded off the surface and gave the goalkeeper no chance."

Jackman made his return from injury in the final 15 minutes and Lacey praised the attitude of his team as they climbed to the lofty heights of sixth in the Premier Division table. He said: "We felt that the team that wanted it more would win it on Tuesday and my boys were outstanding. Their attitude and enthusiasm for the game is second to none. We are a hard-working, never-say-die team. Our squad is frightening and if we don't get complacent and keep on doing what we are doing now nothing is unachievable.
