St Albans’ Oliver Tarvet kept up his brilliant form over Easter to win through to his first Tennis Europe final in the Nike Junior International at Nottingham.

The Batchwood Tennis Acadmey player lost in straight sets to Harry Lazell but can take plenty of pride at his performance.

His route to the final saw him overcome number eight seed Jack Batchelor in round one and he came through a three-set marathon in the next round with Bolton’s Billy Blades.

The final against fellow GB player Lazell saw both boys serve up fantastic tennis and whilst Tarvet battled as hard as ever, he was unable to capitalise at key moments.

Batchwood’s head performance coach Jon Meredith said: “It is a sizeable achievement reaching a final of a Tennis Europe event. Ollie can continue to learn from this and work towards reaching the next level. He is certainly hungry enough to fulfil his potential.”
