Crabtree Junior School is no stranger to sporting success within Harpenden and District events, with wins at county level in rugby and indoor athletics, but it can now boast the Junior Girls County Cross Country Champion.

Crabtree entered three girls and one boy into the junior races of the Hertfordshire Schools Athletics Association annual Cross Country Championships, held at Westminster Lodge.

In the girls’ race all three Crabtree runners finish in the top 20 out of nearly 180 runners, with Lucy Evans bagging the top spot and Georgia and Emma both running personal bests.

In the boys’ race, year 5 Adam was placed 21st and is already looking forward to next year’s race.

The school’s PE coordinator, Emma Thomas, said: “Our pupils were outstanding in their discipline, focus, desire and overall fitness. I am looking forward to following the journey of these promising young athletes in the future.”
