THERE was another fantastic turnout of 228 runners for Saturday’s 5k run in Verulamium Park.

Joe Dunn was the first male Strider to finish in fourth place overall with a new personal best time of 17mins 54secs. He was followed in by fellow Striders Pablo Plaza Lastras (ninth), Richard Devereux (14th), Steve Smith (19th), and Errol Maginley (20th).

The first Strider female to cross the line was Jenny Maddocks in 24th overall. She was closely followed by Helen Cartlidge (30th).

On Sunday Striders Richard Derrick, Wendy Walsh and Deirdre Heydecker completed the inaugural Asridge Half Marathon. This is a brand new event held in aid of the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home charity and follows a beautiful, but demanding route around the Ashridge Estate.
