Colney Heath progressed to the third Round of the FA Vase with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Newmarket Town at the Recreation Ground.
The first half was not the best for the Magpies as they struggled to keep the ball and make any inroads towards the Newmarket keeper. Only Aaron Clarke got close to making anything happen as his work rate and pace created slight panic as he ran in behind.
The second half was a different matter, however, and the Magpies piled on the pressure on a wilting defence. Martin Standen and Kevin Ashwood tested the gloves of the Town keeper and the equaliser arrived via the head of Jack Coombs as he appeared at the far post to power his header across the keeper.
The sustained pressure bore fruit as a quick break found Standen who got behind the left back and, while the centre back appealed in vain for offside, Ashwood curled a shot over the keeper into the top corner with a minute to go.
