A run in the FA Trophy is just what is required to help lift St Albans City out of their league malaise.
Saints host fellow Vanarama National League South side Poole Town today (Saturday) in the third qualifying round.
City won 1-0 at Tatnam back in August and the Dolphins arrive without a win away from Dorset in the league.
And manager Ian Allinson believes victory could reignite a flagging season for his side.
He said: “It would be nice [to go on a run]. Win a couple and you could be into the last 32.
“It happened with Gosport a few years ago and it’s a great incentive to go on a run.
“A lot of the National League sides don’t take it too serious as they are trying to get into the Football League.
“We’ve got to approach it like we did at the start of the season when we went to Poole and won.”
Kick-off at Clarence Park is at 3pm.
