James Ewington scored a hat-trick as London Colney overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Harefield United 3-2 at Cotlandswick.

Harry Newman and Ricky Pither gave the SSML Premier Division’s third-placed team a 2-0 lead but two goals just before half-time got the Blueboys back in the game.

First Ewington got in front of the defender to turn in Stef Geraldes’ low cross at the near post and he doubled his tally after racing onto a through ball and beating Matt Elston-Bull with a cool finish.

He had to wait until the final minutes to complete his hat-trick and the comeback. Once again he beat the offside trap to go one-on-one with Harefield’s custodian and the outcome was the same as he swept the ball into the net and seal all three points for Colney.

The reserves drew 3-3 away at Hadley Reserves, with goals from Ronnie Blagden, James Smithson and Jack Nevin.
