PHIL Ewington scored a hat trick as Harpenden Colts Under 12s Hawks beat St Albans City Youth South in the West Herts Challenge Cup. George Ventris, Ben Boutwood and Elliot Ashby also scored to seal the 6-0 win.

PHIL Ewington scored a hat trick as Harpenden Colts Under 12s Hawks beat St Albans City Youth South in the West Herts Challenge Cup. George Ventris, Ben Boutwood and Elliot Ashby also scored to seal the 6-0 win. The teams then met again in the league on Sunday and Phil Ewington continued his goal spree with four in a 5-0 win. Matthew Cloke also netted. Michael Pearson and Kieran Davey picked up the Man of the Match awards. The Hawks will now play Leverstock Green in the Cup final.

Two goals by Ben Appleyard proved not enough as the Under 12s Eagles lost 4-2 to Bury Rangers Reds in an entertaining game. Mark Pulver and Ben Appleyard were jointly awarded Man of the Match for their excellent work in midfield.

A fine team performance took the Under 11s Rovers to the top of Division One, with a 2-1 victory away to Chorleywood Common. After several near misses Rovers took the lead with a goal from midfielder Jake Collins just before half time. Man of the Match Will Chisholm added the second with a dipping shot after being put through by Kieran Bajpai.

On Saturday, the Under 11s United beat Tring Tornados with goals from Luke Owen and Man of the Match Joseph Fraquelli sealing a 2-1 success. United then went down 3-1 to Redwood Rangers on Sunday. Striker Sam Jones scored the consolation goal and Matt Wright and Joseph Fraquelli shared the Man of the Match award.
