Radlett's Kabir Toor was still in a positive mood despite his side's 133-run defeat to Welwyn Garden City in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League's Premier Division Final.
Having lost the toss and being put into bat WGC went on to make 288-6 in their 50 overs.
And Radlett were unable to get close, eventually being bowled out for
But skipper Toor was not too downhearted.
He said: “Maybe it was a game too far but we were playing a good side so there’s no shame there.
“But it’s been a good season and everyone has enjoyed it.
“They just played better. Two or three of their guys played really good innings and they were just the better team on the day.
“Once we got to the point where we knew we were struggling I told the lads just to go and play their shots.
“If we’re going to lose we might as well not stay here until 7 o’clock.
“They’re a good side and they deserved it.”
The former Middlesex man will also continue as captain into next year, citing the young side and positive atmosphere in the dressing room as the main reason.
“It’s been a really enjoyable season,” he said. “We’ve got a good young side.
“We’ve got a reputation of having a lot of paid players but none of our players are.
“Everyone is aged between 18 and 26. So I think with that there’s a good atmosphere in the team.
“We’re all going to be here a while, we all enjoy each other’s company and we enjoy playing our cricket.
“I’ve had a great season, absolutely loved it so I’ll come back.
“I’m just glad it’s over, it’s mid-September. I can’t be playing too many more games in that temperature.
“We’ll enjoy having a break from cricket for a few months but then look forward to coming back.”
