James Comley has been called up to Paul Fairclough’s England C squad for the upcoming International Challenge Trophy match against Turkey.
The 23-year-old is one of just three Vanarama Conference South players named in the 16-man squad that will travel to Istanbul. Concord Rangers’ Jamie Bulter and Callum Kitscha from Hayes and Yeading are the other two. The Group A game is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, October 14 at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium, kick-off 4pm.
Fairclough watched Sunday’s FA Cup win over Hayes and Yeading before naming Comley is in squad, which represents England at non-league level and features players outside of the Football League.
The International Challenge Trophy is a competition open to national teams featuring semi-professional footballers who have not won senior international caps.
A club spokesman said: “All at St Albans City are pleased and excited for James and are sure that he will rise to the challenge with the midfield qualities that have enabled him to make his name at Clarence Park.”
