SANDRIDGE picked up their first win of the campaign in Division Five as they got back to their favoured tactics on Saturday.

The 'Ridgers won the toss and opted to bat first, a tactic that served them so well last season with defending marginal targets.

Sandridge posted 191-9 off their 50 overs before the bowlers lived up to their reputation, striking out Holtwhites for just 107 to secure a comfortable success.

The team have now won one, drawn one and lost one of their opening three games in Division Five and will be looking to take the momentum from this win into their next match at Chorleywood II on Saturday.

In Division Nine, Sandridge II continued their bright start to the season with a win away at Old Camdenians II on Saturday.

Having won the toss and put the home side in to bat SCC saw the OC openers put on a 100 opening stand before Graham Perrin broke through to peg back the OC innings. Perrin went on to take 8-78 as OC were confident enough to declare on 229-9 leaving SCC 49 overs to bat.

The Sandridge reply was consistent throughout putting the bowlers and fielders under pressure. Andy Lowe scored 37 before Dylan Hubble (51) and Nick Betts (56 not out) each scored their maiden half century for the club. When Hubble was out the home side thought they were in with a chance but Betts was particularly aggressive as he and Dan Reynolds (29) put on 71. Sandridge sealed the win on 230-7 with eight overs to spare. The points were great reward to Sandridge for their hard work in the field earlier in the day.
