HARPENDEN Rovers entertained Sarrat on Thursday, August 21, in front off a large crowd, and started brightly.

In the first 30 minutes Rovers played some great football, and created some great chances with Golds, Izzard and Watson all missing good chances. However the game turned on 40 minutes when Sarratt forced a corner after a good five minute spell. From the corner goalkeeper Elliot Thomas, misjudged the flight which allowed the Sarratt striker to tap in from two yards.

Rovers never fully recovered even with the introduction of Devoti and Price up front. Sarratt where then gifted another goal after some poor defending allowed an easy tap in from another corner. Five minutes later the game was finished when a harmless corner was horrendously dealt with to gift another goal.

With Rovers looking to salvage some pride and pushing forward, there were spaces left at the back for Sarratt to get another gifted goal to make the final score 4-0. The Rover's manager James Nicholls said: "This was a disappointing result and on another night we could have beaten them 4-0, but at this level if you make basic errors you get punished."

After Thursday poor performance Rovers were happy to get a chance to rectify this so soon with an away game to a very strong Cuffley on Saturday.

The hosts started the better and the first 10 minutes were all Cuffley. However once Rovers regained their confidence they took the game to Cuffley and created two guilt edge chances, both headers which went over the bar from Gareth Devoti and Graham Golds.

Then Rovers gifted the home team with a poor clearance for an easy goal for Cuffley. Rovers responded strongly with some great football but somehow Cuffley went in at the break 2-0 up after Rovers gave a silly penalty.

The second half could have seen the Rovers fold, but instead came out looking the much better side and Chris Jenkinson and Gareth Devoti found the Cuffley goalkeeper in inspirational form.

However with 10 minutes to go Gareth Devoti headed home from a Chugg cross to set up a tense end. Cuffley were being completely out played with Williams and Golds totally bossing the midfield. However with two minutes to go Rovers were caught pushing forward in search on an equaliser were undone by a long ball which the Cuffley striker slotted home.
