Blueboys assured of highest league finish in club history
Sam Doolan scored his first goal for London Colney to win the derby with Colney Heath.
Doolan, a summer signing from Boreham Wood, headed the Blueboys into a second-half lead at the Recreation Ground last night. James Ewington, who has been on hot streak of late, netted his 15th goal in as many appearances to seal the victory and avenge the defeat to the Magpies back in December.
The lost at the end of 2014 was London Colney’s last and they put together a 21-game unbeaten streak since then, including 18 wins. With three games left, the Blueboys have clinched their highest league position in club history.
After promotion to the SSML Premier Division at the end of the 2011/12 season, the Blueboys secured back-to-back seventh-placed finishes. They need five points from their remaining three games to clinch second place behind Kings Langley, who were crowned champions last night with victory Wembley.
