LONDON Colney were unfortunate to lose their FA Cup replay at Sporting Bengal United in Tower Hamlets on Wednesday, August 20.

Goalkeeper Papa Diagne had a stunning game for Sporting Bengal United to keep Colney out.

Forhan Uddin missed a chance to open the scoring early on for United when his shot was saved by Anthony Ladyman in the Colney goal.

Striker Danny Fitzgerald saw his effort cleared off the line after a sparkling run into the box and Cain Davey flashed a shot just wide.

Ladyman made two fine saves to deny United forward Abdul Motalib and brothers Cain and Jermaine Davey saw efforts go close for Colney.

In the 25th minute Sporting Bengal took the lead when following a good short corner routine Oli Rahman headed the ball home.

The Blueboys tried to hit back and Cain Davey had a good shot saved before setting up Paul Danslow who fired over the cross bar.

Ladyman had to be alert to deny Ahbab Hussain as he bore down on goal after a fine pass from Rahman and at the other end Jermaine Davey had a shot saved.

The impressive Motalib was in fine form as he had been in the first match at Cotlandswick and flashed a shot just over the top.

Jermaine Davey looked to have struck the equaliser with a shot which seemed destined for the corner only to sting the legs of the outstanding Diagne. Cain Davey and Lee Benning then set up a chance for Danslow who could not connect.

Diagne denied Fitzgerald and Cain Davey while Greg Shaw lashed a shot just wide as Colney continued to search for the equaliser.

Fitzgerald sent Ashley Aimakhu clear but Diagne tipped away his well struck shot and Sporting were reduced to 10-men soon after with Shelim Shakir picking up a second yellow card.

In the final minute, Colney missed another chance as Aimakhu blazed the ball over after a Fitzgerald shot was parried.

London Colney: Ladyman, Benning, McCafferty, Dickie, Gorrell, Bindley (Shaw), C. Davey, Beschizza, Danslow (Aimakhu), J. Davey (Corran), Fitzgerald. Unused subs: Wilson, Butcher.

London Colney Reserves picked up a point when Arron Woodcock scored from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw away to Tring Reserves on Wednesday, August 20.
