Wheathampstead 3 Portland Arms 4
INJURY-HIT Wheathampstead suffered a second successive cup defeat losing 4-3 to Portland Arms with a below par performance in the Apsley Junior Cup.
Wheathampstead started very brightly in poor conditions and deservedly took the lead when Angus Raeside coolly picked his spot and curled the ball into the corner before Portland equalised after poor defending.
Before half time Wanderers were back in front; Adem Berkay finishing off a great passing move with the outside of his right boot.
Early in the second half, Arms equalised and soon added another. David Bailey equalised for Wanderers, rising high to meet an excellent free-kick from Frankie Buckler.
However, minutes from the end, Portland scored the winner, leaving Wheathampstead frustrated knowing they can play better.
