DORCHESTER Town's caretaker manager Ashley Vickers, has moved to bolster the Magpies' squad by snatching Kyle Critchell from bitter neighbours Weymouth.

The 22-year-old was Weymouth's captain but was unhappy at the club's off-the-field problems and he told the Dorset Echo: "It's the most difficult decision I've ever had to make," said the 22-year-old. "I'm not doing it because of the fans, who have been fantastic, and I think Hutch has been amazing - it's been a pleasure to work for him.

"At the end of the day I think the wrong people are in the club and I hope people understand my reasons for leaving,"

Newport County defender Alton Thelwell is set to leave the club to join up with Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town.

The former Tottenham man joined the league leaders in October and made his league debut against St Albans City but is expected to join the Poppies because they can offer full-time football.

Maidenhead have also lost a key player with Will Hendry joining Blue Square Premier side AFC Wimbledon.

Hendry, who was a key figure in Hayes & Yeading's play-off success last season, had helped propel the Magpies up the league table with his arrival coinciding with the club going on a seven-game unbeaten run.

However his performances grabbed the attention of several clubs with the Dons beating Woking and Havant & Waterlooville to the midfielder's signature.

Finally, Bishop's Stortford have moved to cover their midfield crisis by signing Scott Shulton and Damon Lathrope.

Lathrope has joined Stortford on loan until the end of the season while Shulton has made his loan move from Ebbsfleet permanent after impressing during the original one-month deal.

The Blues were short on numbers in midfield after Ben Bowditch and Craig Edwards picked up injuries that are expected to rule them out for the rest of the season.
