Athletic crush Finchley 12-0 in Intermediate Cup

Herts Intermediate Cup

Harpenden Arms Athletic were in unstoppable form, defeating Finchley Utd B 12-0.

Tom Collin led the way with four goals, one behind was Gary Findlay with a hat-trick, his first of the season. Robert Walker added a brace and Michael Davies a single plus two own goals. Scott Timmins picked up the Arms’ Man of the Match award.

PSV went out with a whimper as they exited the cup 6-2 against Drays Athletic. Man of the match Mark Caldwell kept the scoreline down while Ryan Houghton and Daniel Pienaar scored for PSV.

Both Steve Dorer and Man of the Match Harry Hunt hit hat-tricks for Oaks in an excellent 10-0 win against Wellington Arms. Other goals came from Adam Fowler (two), Adam Hull and Scott Sherman.

Goalkeeper Tony Kerby was the Blackberry Jack’s outstanding player in their fine 3-1 against MBDA. Goals came from Anthony Burns, Bradley Gorman and James Martin.

Herts Sunday Senior Cup

Three Herts Advertiser teams came out with successes in the County Cup. London road recorded a fine 4-2 away win against PJ Hitchin with two goals from Matt Newman and singles by Dan McCafferty and Matt Tillbrook. Tinashe Jaravaza was their Man of the Match.

A rampant Skew Bridge cruised into the next round with a crushing 12-1 victory over Hatfiels Sports. The Skew were ruthless throughout with first half goals coming from Mark Hitchcock, Ed Frost and David Keenleyside. The second half continued to be a goal fest with Hitchcock and Frost both completing their tally to four each.

Keenleyside grabbed another one and the scoreline was completed with Steve Hawes scoring on his debut and Dave Hay grabbing the goal of the game.

AFC Rangers continued their good cup form with a solid performance in a 6-0 win against Hemel United.

Herts Junior cup

Greenwood Park’s patched-up team went down 3-0 against Real Herts United Res, but it could have been different if Man of the Match Matt West had scored his penalty.

A makeshift IFC St Albans Res team came up short against AC Grapes, going down 4-1. After a goalless first half, Grapes took the lead. IFC chased the game but were caught on the counter, with Man of the Match Shane Thompson keeping the team in it. Tom Hill scored a beauty as consolation.

A star performance by Johnny Brown plus two goals apiece from Tom Gajjar and Ryan Hearne gave Nicholas Breakspear OB res a 4-0 win against almond Tree La Conuna.

Herts Advertiser Junior Cup

IFC St Albans set yet another new club record win with captain fantastic Spencer Clarke-Mardel leading the way with five goals. The goal of the game was a 25-yarder from Harry Honeywood into the top corner. Calum Marjoram, Callum Fowler, Sam Coote and Christy Torrens also scored.

In a 10-goal thriller, Marshalswick Rovers came out on top 6-4 against Old Albanians. Andrew Saunders put in a Man of the Match performance with his first hat-trick of the season. David Hudson and Matt Lawrence completed their tally.

Division One

Brookmans Park won 4-3 against 10-man Queens Head Sandridge. Two goals down at the break, Park fought back with two goals from Adam Davies, but they were pegged back as Queens drew level again.

However further goals from Grant Noble and Darren Chillingworth gave the home team a two goal advantage, only a late goal from Queens made the scoreline tighter than it looked and should have been. Queens’ goals came from Matt Corran (two) and Adam Parker.

Six Bells defeated FC Potters Bar 2-1, with Mark Merven and Martin Gentleman scoring.

Division Two

Beaver Travel put in another Jekyll and Hyde performance when drawing 2-2 with Herts Mauritian. Beaver started the game poorly and soon found themselves a Darran Caveree goal down.

Beaver slowly managed to get themselves back in the game which led to an equaliser through Dan Lovett. In the second half Beaver had more of the game and were rewarded when Ish Omar scored. Dan Morris scored another for Beaver late on.

Division Three

Goals from Robert Briggs and Oli Franks plus an outstanding performance by Kieran Johnson earned Blacksmiths Arms a hard-earned 2-0 win against Radlett Village and kept them on top of the division.

Despite being 1-0 down at half time to White Horse, Precision started to play their football and ran out comfortable 5-2 winners, to complete a double. Leon Ferdinand made an explosive home debut to score two goals and young Jack Woods also netted a brace. Chris Wickens kept up his impressive goalscoring adding a single.

Colney Heath Rangers Res completed the double over 10-man Queens Head Sandridge Res. The outstanding Ian McCarthy was a constant problem to the Queens defence, scoring four goals in his Man of the Match performance. Anthony Bragg and Dave Putman completed the 6-2 scoreline.

Wheathampstead ‘89 picked up their second league win of the season, gaining revenge over Brookmans Park Res in an 8-0 score. Both James Lynch and Lee Bennett hit hat-tricks. Alan Russell and Andrew Clark (his first of the season) completed the tally.

Division Four

Cottonmill returned to winning ways and the top of the table when defeating Marquis of Granby 8-1. A Craig Redgwell hat-trick and a brace apiece from Andrew Hammond and Tim Couch plus an own goal completed Mill‘s scoring.

Brookmans Park A team made it three wins on the trot when defeating The Ridge 2-1 with goals from Ollie Thomas and Ronnie Dunn. Michael Donkin was Park’s star player. Duane Foster replied for Ridge.

St Albans Royals took time to settle Harpenden Colts who struck first through Alex Denney. Royals struck back with a brilliant chip over the keeper from Matt Brand. Harpenden scored a second from another free kick, but in the second half Royals and there never-say-die attitude came back with two more goals from Royals star man Matt Brand.

Division Five

Pete Bishop was Bricket Wood’s manager for the day in Dave Frost’s absence as the inspired Bricket Wood came from behind twice to secure a first ever away victory since the club was formed, and first victory of the season.

With the energetic Tom Boylan scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 win against athletico Quat. Bishop said after the game: “I’m very proud of this achievement as it’s been a hard, long and patient road.” Adam White and Sam Smith scored for Athletico.

Herts Athletic turned up with only 10 players and were punished 6-0. Mymms controlled the game from start to finish with some excellent passing and movement, plus a hat-trick from Simon Skeggs and Stephen Havard, Dan Boucher and Simon Maher singles.

Dukes defeated Raiders United 2-1. All of the goals came in the first half with Dukes going 2-0 up through Jack Johnson and Prev Selvarajah before Raiders scored their consolation reply.

Camp KBK opened the scoring against Jersey Farm with a great goal. Daryl Hall equalised only for Camp to pile on the pressure and scored from a defensive blunder to make it 2-1. Camp grabbed a late goal to make it 3-1.

Bradmore Rovers Res went one up early in the first half and had a decent amount of possession. In the second half the George Redbourn came out fighting and worked hard and deserved a 2-1 victory. Redbourn’s Man of the Match was Rory Pearce.

Goals by Arron Rodway and Scot Rolls couldn’t save Wheathampstead Res going down 4-2 against Phoenix Res.
