Club claims County golds

MARSHALSWICK Judo Club have been busy over the last few weeks taking part in the Hertfordshire County Judo competitions held in Hatfield. The events were well attended by various clubs from throughout Herts and Marshalswick JC were represented by Megan M

MARSHALSWICK Judo Club have been busy over the last few weeks taking part in the Hertfordshire County Judo competitions held in Hatfield.

The events were well attended by various clubs from throughout Herts and Marshalswick JC were represented by Megan McKinnon in the girls under 30 kilo, taking gold in her very first competition. This was followed by her brother Joel McKinnon who took bronze in the boys under 27 kilo.

Tom Hirst competed very well in the boys under 38 kilo group, taking bronze, while Emily Mair in the girls under 38 kilo also fought well to take bronze. Josh Farraway just missed out on bronze in the boys under 34 kilo group.

In the junior boys under orange belt group Marshalwsick were represented by David Stephens in the boys under 60 kilo group taking gold, and Simon Irwin taking gold in the boys under 66 kilo. Also in this group was Kieran Selhi, who just missed out on the bronze in his group.

Kieran Hodgekiss took silver in the boys 46 kilo group, with his sister Sophie Hodgekiss taking bronze in the girls under 36 kilo group.

Competing for the girls in the under 57 kilo group was Marieke Stewart where she took gold.

Then in the senior women's under blue belt competition and with some very hard-fought contests, Jemma O'Dwyer took gold against fellow club member Mareike Stewart who took the silver.
