Wheathampstead 2 Croxley C&H Res 2
WHEATHAMPSTEAD drew 2-2 for the second week running, this time against Croxley C&H Res in another close-fought game.
Angus Raeside scored first for the Wanderers cutting in from the left wing after a strong run and placing the ball beyond the keeper. Croxley responded with two goals either side of the break and had the better of the second half, retaining the ball much better than their younger opponents.
Wheathampstead refused to be muscled out of it however and got their reward late in the game when Jason Pawlaczek was bundled over as he drove into the opposition box. Rob Clark scored his second of the season with a smartly taken penalty.
Senior-pro Pawlaczek put on a fine game of pass-and-move in central midfield and showed his 16-year old colleagues what it will take to compete in senior football this term.
