Basingstoke Town v St Albans City

Blue Square Bet South

Address: The Camrose, Western Way, Basingstoke, Hampshire RG22 6EZ. Tel: 01256 327575

THE Saints get back to action this Saturday with a trip to Hampshire to take on Basingstoke Town.

THE LOWDOWN: The Dragons are currently unbeaten in five Blue Square Bet South games and are sat in 14th place in the table.

Like the Saints, Basingstoke have struggled to find the back of the net on a regular occurrence this season with only Lewes scoring fewer goals this season. Frank Gray’s side have no such problems at the other end conceding a meagre 21 goals with only Braintree and Ebbsfleet boasting a meaner defence.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Winger Matt Warner is enjoying a productive spell for the Dragons scoring or providing the assist for four of the team’s last five goals.

The Saints will have to pay close attention to the pacy winger who has given a number of full-backs a torrid afternoon in recent weeks.

LAST LINEUP – vs. Bromley: Locke; Rice, Gasson, Reynolds, Adams, Pattison, Lake, Warner, Ogunbote, Smart, Pratt.

LAST TIME: A spectacular downpour midway through the first half was the most memorable moment when the two sides shared a 0-0 draw at Clarence Park in August.

City’s last visit to this corner of Hampshire saw them earn a point with just 10-men after Paul Bastock had been sent off for bringing down Robbie Rice. Matt Warner converted the resultant spot kick to cancel out Drew Roberts’ 22nd minute opener.

TEAM NEWS: The Saints will have to do without the services of Dave Hutton who has left the club to join the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain.

One player returning to the fold for City is striker Pelayo Gomez after the Spaniard had spent the previous few weeks back at parent club Brentford.

Basingstoke hope midfielder Stuart Lake will be able to shake off his knock in time for Saturday but one player who won’t be involved is striker Grant Powell who has joined Fleet Town on loan.
