St Albans City are through to the semi-final of the Herts Charity Cup after beating Ware 4-1 at Wodson Park on Saturday.
Summer signings Loick Pires, with a brace, and Elliot Buchanan, who put pen to paper alongside Warren McBean this week, scored three of City’s four goals in the first round tie. Steve Wales scored the other goal as the Saints booked a spot in the last four.
The game was St Albans’ first competitive match of the 2-14/15 season. The Conference South season starts this Saturday (August 9) when they welcome Hayes and Yeading to Clarence Park. First up though, is a friendly against League Two Stevenage at home on Monday night, 7.45pm kick-off.
