YOUTH RUGBY ROUND-UP: Verulamian Chariots U11s welcomed Barnet OE's to a wet and windy Cotlandswick on Sunday.

While Chariots were the stronger side from the start, Barnet scored first with a breakaway try, which was converted to give them a 7-0 lead.

Chariots' came storming back however and they scored twice in the remainder of the first half through tries from Rory Jeram and Jordan Reynolds, both converted by Adam Hatchett.

Chariots continued their dominance with their pack driving back in both scrum and maul in the second half and good tactical kicking from fly half Hatchett always left Barnet playing from deep in their own half.

Tries followed for Chariots from Max Chambers, Rory Jeram followed with two more tries and the last play of the game saw Chariots score their sixth try by Nathan Ward.

Adam Hatchett converted all four second half tries meaning the final score was Chariots 42 Barnet 7.

The Old Albanian U16s won away from home a fortnight ago against Staines and took on Ampthill in their next game last weekend.

OA were quickly 5-0 ahead after an impressive solo effort from their captain Ed Mellen.

Harry Kentish added a further three points and the home team went in to half-time 8-0 ahead.

On a wet blustery day the OA forwards impressed with their work rate and aggressive rucking.

Charlie Deacon and Will Tominey showed great strength and determination.

Max Cross was on hand to score the next well worked try but the visitors replied with two tries and a conversion of their own making the score 13-12 to the home team.

Once again the forwards took the game to the opposition and Man of the Match Olly Grisenthwaite scored a well deserved try of his own.

A successful conversion took the game to 20-12 and that's how it remained.
