Obi Ijeoma has stepped down from his role as St Albans Centurions head coach.

Ijeoma took the reins in October but has recently changed jobs and was commuting from Kent to St Albans three days a week.

The club’s director of rugby David Stevens said: “After much soul searching, Obi has announced he has had to stand down from his head coach position at the club.

“Obi was an excellent coach and a very nice person. He will be missed at the club and we all wish him well with his future rugby league plans.”

Under Ijeoma, Cents won the Raging Bull Shield by beating Beckenham Bears and reached the third round of the London Cup after wins over the Bears and Newham Dockers in rounds one and two.

The cup run ended with a heavy loss to South West London Chargers.
