Stringer and Lake named in Lionhearts squad

ST ALBANS Centurions Rugby League club are proud to announce that two of their players have been picked to represent their country in the upcoming Amateur Four Nations Rugby League series.

England Lionhearts head coach Paul Heaton has named a 22-man squad ahead of Saturday’s opening clash against Scotland at Leeds, and this includes Centurions prop forward Andy Lake and winger Matt Stringer.

England Lionhearts are selected from players in the Rugby League Conference, the amateur ranks of the Rugby Football League, who play their games during the summer months. The national, premiership, regional and merit leagues cover the whole of the UK.

St Albans Centurions chairman Brian Parker said: “This is a great honour for the players and the club. Andy Lake played for the Lionhearts last season, but this is Matt Stringers first call up. The England squad is made up of players from clubs as far apart as Devon and Lancashire, so for our club to have two players included makes us doubly proud.”

The England Lionhearts will play against Wales in July and Ireland in August.
