St Albans Striders’ Mark Castleton finished 64th at the Milton Keynes Marathon.
He crossed the line in 3:05.28, 28 minutes behind the winner, Jack Parslow, who set a new course record in 2:37.26
The other Striders to finish were Andrew McKillop (3:29.28), Peter Clarke (4:01.11), Ian Hirth (4:08.14), Adam Mellor (4:13.40), Mark Travers (4:17.17) and Dwight Williams (5:22.35).
Graham Smith finished fifth at the Pednor five mile race and was first in the V40 category, followed by Graham Foster in 30mins 52secs and Michael Martin (33:06). Wendy Walsh was the fourth woman to finish the race in 32:31, also winning the V35 category, and in sixth place was Jen Conway, who finished in 33:40, and Lucy Martin in 13th (35:38). Walsh, Conway and Martin made up the winning women’s team.
The Striders took first, second and third place at the St Albans Parkrun, with Blake Vivian finishing in 17mins 4secs, Joe Dunn in 17:07 and Martin Whitworth in 17:37. In the women’s race, the Striders also took first and third, with Helen Cartlidge and Heather Blamire-Brown finishing in 20:16 and 21:11 respectively.
